The EDA Rhinos have proved that they're much more than just Manny Ramirez. Since Ramirez's abrupt departure from the team, they have won five of six games, while averaging seven runs per game. And the best part? They've clinched a playoff spot.
Their win on Tuesday night over the Elephants, coupled with the Uni Lions loss to the Lamigo Monkeys, clinched the first-half championship and a guaranteed spot in the CPBL playoffs. What a turnaround for the team that finished 31 games out of first place in 2012.
It's also worth noting that attendance has been steady for the Rhinos since Ramirez's departure. The team has averaged well over 6,000 fans per game over their past six. This could be attributed to ticket sales that were made prior to Ramirez's departure, or perhaps the EDA Rhinos have indeed become Taiwan's most popular team.
